Sunday, March 27 - Matthew 28:16-20 (NIV)

Matthew 28:16-20
Now go tell the story.

Jesus has left an incredible story behind for all of us to tell.  During these last two weeks we have read through the greatest story ever told:  God created us, we rebelled, he persisted, he came, and he redeemed us.  As Jesus leaves he gives us the simple instruction to go and tell the world this story.

Tell them that I have power over life and death - I've proved that by coming back from the dead.
Tell them they need to follow me - be baptized and accept this gift.
Tell them they need to obey me - I am the master teacher.

And remember that even though I am gone I am still with you.  I am still with you to guide you, inspire you, comfort you, and walk with you side by side as you live out your story.

We may at times feel inadequate to be called his follower.  We may at times feel unqualified to tell the story.  But the story is enough.  The story makes up for our insufficiencies.  They story is not about us but about our God and if that's our story we can’t go wrong.

Recently I heard it all summed up like this: “I’m just a nobody, that wants to tell everybody, about somebody, that can save anybody.”

God, thank you so much for acting on my behalf.  Give me the courage to boldly tell others about what you have done and what you have planned for those who follow after you.  May I be constantly reminded of your continuous presence in my life.  As you have come into this world, may I go and tell the story.

16 Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. 17 When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. 18 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
